Saving young lives in Sierra Leone
Mentoring for healthier and safer pregnancy and birth
The problem
In a survey in Eastern Freetown in 2015, 1 in 10 pregnant teens had died in pregnancy or around childbirth. Huge stigma means they face family abandonment and are less likely to receive proper nutrition or antenatal care during pregnancy and around the time of birth.
Our solution
Local women are mentoring pregnant teenagers – helping them access antenatal care, meet other pregnant mums, reconnect with family and financially support themselves and their babies
Our people

“2YoungLives has got to be the most impactful intervention I have ever witnessed. It turns around lives in the most phenomenal and efficient way and I would prioritise this over anything! All power to you. We must expand this.”
